Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the efficiency of a volute fan, by shaping the lower portions of plural radial blades of an impeller so that the lower portions extend oppositely to the direction of revolution.
CONSTITUTION: An impeller 13 with a plurality of blades 14 is secured on a drive shaft 4 by a nut 15. The lower portion 20 of each blade 14 is bent in the direction of revolution 19 to reduce an impact loss which is caused when a swirl flows onto the blade 14. When the impeller 13 is rotating in the direction 19, air in an air passage flows into the impeller 13 at a relative speed in the direction 21 to become a swirl shown by an arrow 22 in the drawing. Since the lower portion 20 of each blade 14 is bent in the direction of revolution 19 so that the inflow angle of the air to the impeller 13 is equal to the reception angle of the blade 14, the collision loss on the lower portion 20 is reduced. Therefore, the efficiency is improved.
