Abstract
PURPOSE:To cover the connecting part of optical fibers with a reinforcing member so that no distortion is left, by providing a pair of auxiliary clamps on the outside of a pair of clamps, and constituting so that its one clamp is rotated centering around the optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:As for optical fibers 4, 5, covering layers 4A, 5A of those tip parts are removed, and are supported by clamps 10, 11. The covering layer 4A is held by a notch groove 20 of a rotation body 14, and a covering layer 4a is also held by a clamp 20 in the same way. Moreover, a covering layer 5a is fixed to the clamp 11 and 21. The tip parts of the optical fibers 4, 5 are finely adjusted in the (x) and (y) directions by guides 8, 9, are adjusted in the (r) direction by the clamps 10, 20, and after that, are made to adhere and are connected by discharge of electrodes 6, 7. Said connected optical fibers 4, 5 are detached from the clamps 10, 11, and a reinforcing body 27 is made to adhere to them. In this case, since they are held by auxiliary clamps 20, 21 no distortion is left on the connecting part.
