Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the weight of a bearing for the connecting rod cap of a vehicle engine or the like and enable the mass production of the bearing, by shaping the bearing as a semicircle so that an opening is defined by side plate sections, a bearing section and coupling sections.
CONSTITUTION: A bearing is shaped as a container so that a semicircular opening 9 of rectangular cross section is defined by side plate sections 4, a bearing section 5 first coupling sections 7 and a second coupling section 8. The second coupling section 8 is provided with slender holed 12 which are opposed to first bolt holes 6 so that bolts are laid through the slender holes 12. Bolt seats 14 provided with second bolt holes 13 are welded on the second coupling section 8 along welding lines 16 in parallel with the first coupling sections 7. The outside surfaces of the first coupling sections 7 and the inside surface of the bearing section 5 are finished by machining and provided with engaging nickes 17 for positioning a bearing metal. While the bearing section 5 is placed with the bearing metal on a shaft, the bearing section is secured on a connecting rod by bolts 19 laid through the bolt holes 6, 12, 13.
