Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the weight of a fan to thereby enable the fan to be rotated at a higher speed and enable to reduce the starting torque, by a method wherein a main plate is formed in a honeycomb sandwich structure consisting of a light alloy material such as an aluminum alloy and blades are formed in a hollow streamlined configuration.
CONSTITUTION: In the fan 10, the main plate 12 is formed in the honeycomb sandwich structure in which a pair of thin aluminum plates 22 are oppositely faced to each other and a thin foil 24 formed in a honeycomb shape from aluminum or the like is fixed between the aluminum plates 22. On the other hand, the blade 18 is provided with a streamlined external configuration and its interior is hollowed 26. The blade 18 is made from an aluminum material, as is the main plate 12. Accordingly, it can be contrived to reduce the weight of the fan 10, the blade height and the outside dimensions can be enlarged, thereby increasing the number of rotation and the amount of airflow. In addition, as a result of the reduction in weight, the moment of inertia is decreased and it can be contrived to reduce the starting torque.
