Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform the backup operation of a typewriter efficiently by checking the state of the typewriter on receiving an output request, and by using this typewriter when the typewriter operates normally while using the typewriter of another electronic computer system when troubled. CONSTITUTION:Electronic computer systems 1 and 2 are both equipped with auxiliary storage device 9 to which each one can refer. On receiving an output request to typewriter 3 or 4 of the system 1 or 2, the system checks the state of its typewriter and, when it is normal, supplies output information. If it is troubled, on the other hand, the output information is retained in the device 9 and its retaining location is supplied as backup information to the other electronic computer system, which is actuated. When receiving the backup information from the other electronic computer system, the system reads the output information held in the device 9 and supplies it to its own typewriter. Thus, if one typewriter is made out of order, the other typewriter is used immediately for backup operation.
