Abstract
PURPOSE: To obviate the occurrence of troubles owing to the consolidation and mudlike sticking of iron hydroxide suspended solids by flowing iron powder through blowing and agitating of air.
CONSTITUTION: The alkali absorbing liquid having absorbed H2S from a crude gas 1 in an absorber 2 is fed to a regenerator 4. A branch pipe 9 is oscillated to the right and left by a hollow shaft 8 oscillated by crank operation and air is ejected from the ejection ports of a perforated pipe 10 at the leading end thereof to oscillate the scraping plate 11 mounted to the pipe 10 to the right and left, thereby flowing the iron powder 12 in the regenerator 4. The surfaces of the iron powder are turned to iron hydroxide by the oxygen entering throuh an air pressure inlet 13 and ejecting from the pipe 10 so that the H2S in the absorbing liquid is liberated as sulfur. Next, the iron powder 14 carried by the overflow of the circulating alkali absorbing liquid is settled in a separating tank 15 and is returned by a return pump 16 from the lower part into the regenerator 4. The floating sulfur scum is separated by a collector 17 and is fed into a scum storage tank 18. The alkali liquid after the separation of the sulfur and iron powder is returned via an alkali liquid tank 19 by a pump 20 into the absorber 2, where it absorbs H2S.
