Abstract
PURPOSE: To make the inside part of a welding chamber highly vacuum without causing quality deterioration on rod of nuclear fuel such as adhesion of a shealing ring onto a coated tube or the like by rotating the rod of neuclear fuel synchronously with the shealing ring, which is fixed onto a spindle previously, with a rotation transmitting mechanism and through the spindle and a chuck.
CONSTITUTION: A casting 24a of a rotary shealing mechanism 24 is fixed to a rear end wall of a supporting mechanism 18. At the central part of the inside part of this casting, a through hole in which a rod 8 of nuclear fuel is fitted loosely is provided, and also a member 25 of cylinder in which a pressing ring 14, which is concentric with the through hole, is so holded as to slide in the direction of the axis is so provided that it is rotatable around said axis. Further, a sealing ring 13 is provided between a holding member 26 for the sealing ring, which is fixed to a rear end of a spindle 22, and the ring 14, and a pressure tube 15 is connected with the casing 24a. Then, the rod 8 is inserted into a welding chamber 7 through the insides of the mechanism 24, 18. After the ring 13 was press contacted with the outer circumferential face of the rod 8 with compressed air or the like delivered into a pressure chamber 16, the rod 8 is made to rotate with a rotation transmitting mechanism 19 through the spindle 22 and a chuck 23. Thereby, the ring 13 fixed to the spindle 22 is rotated, too.
