Abstract

PURPOSE: An economical electrically conductive filler, prepared by plating the surface of cured fine spherical particles of benzoguanamine-(melamine)-formaldehyde resin having a specific particle diameter with a metal, and having improved heat resistance and dispersibility.
CONSTITUTION: Cured fine spherical particles of benzoguanamine-(melamine)- formaldehyde resin having a particle diameter of 1W30μ are dispersed in an ammoniac aqueous solution of silver nitrate, and reduced with a reducing compound, e.g. formalin, to deposit and attach silver to the surfaces of the fine particles. Thus, the fine particles are plated with the silver to a thickness ≥100Å. The plating of gold, copper, nickel and platinum can be carried out by selecting the metallic salt to be used. Preferably, copper or nickel plating layer is formed as the first layer, and a silver plating layer is then formed as the second layer.
USE: Suitable for a dispersion system composite electrically conductive material, e.g. electrically conductive rubber, electrically conductive coating material, etc.
