Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce labors such as cleaning, maintenance or the like, in a roll coater coating apparatus, by a method wherein a liquid recirculating system utilizing a receiver tray on which a coating liquid is dropped and a color pan into which a coating liquid is flowed is used as well as a gas bubble separating pipe is additionally provided to prevent foaming.
CONSTITUTION: A coating liquid adhered on a roll surface of a metering roll 11 adjusting the amount of the coating liquid on an applicator roll 9 is scraped off by a blade 12 and dropped into a receiver tray 1. The coating liquid dropped in the receiver tray is passed through a pipe 3 by a liquid recirculating system which connects a bottom part of the receiver tray and an upper part of a color pan 2 into which the coating liquid is entered and recirculated into the color pan 2 form a liquid supply part 6. Further, in the scraped off coating liquid, a small amount of a gas bubble is contained and said gas bubble is reached to a gas-liquid separation part 5 from the receiver tray but, because of its buoyancy, is not reached to a lower part in the pipe 3 and separated from the liquid and discharged to the outside of the system through a branched pipe 4.
