Abstract
PURPOSE: To shorten the furnace length of a heating furnace and save energy by forming a furnace body into two-stage construction, transferring metallic materials in the lower part while preheating the same, retransferring the same to the upper part and moving the same while heating said materials.
CONSTITUTION: Metallic materials 13 are loaded into the lower heating chamber 7 of a furnace body 1, and the materials 13 are successively transferred in the direction of a side wall 3 by operating a lower walking beam 14. At this time, burners 8 in an upper heating chamber 6 are beforehand kept ignited, and the materials 13 are preheated by the exhaust gas thereof. When the materials 13 are transferred up to the end part on the side wall 3 side, the materials 13 are placed on an arm 21 by operating a retransfer device 15 and the arm 21 is moved upward to the position of the same level as that of an upper stationary beam 25. Thence, an upper walking beam 17 is operated to shift the materials 13 on the arm 21 onto the arm 25. Thence, the materials 13 are successively transferred to the extraction side by the beam 17, and during this time, the materials are subjected to required heat treatment by the burners 8.
