Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a polyolefin stretched article improved in antistatic properties and water absorption properties by stretching a formed article consisting of a polyvinyl alcohol and an olefin based polymer which is modified by an unsaturated carboxylic acid.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of 2W50wt% of a polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of saponification of not higher than 85mol% and 98W50wt% of an olefin based polymer modified by 0.001W10wt% of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof, is kneaded to obtain a composition. The composition is formed into the shape of fiber or a film and then it is stretched uniaxially or biaxially with a stretch ratio of at least 3. When the degree of saponification of the polyvinyl alcohol is higher than 85mol%, tendency toward deterioration by heat upon forming is increased and the appearance of the formed article is impaired by coloration. In addition, when the amount of the polyvinyl alcohol is less than 2wt% of the composition, dying property, antistatic property and water desorption property of the product becomes insufficient, and on the other hand, when the amount is in excess of 50wt% the stretchability is reduced.
