Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable measurement of CaCO3 with other ash ingredients contained in paper at the same sensitivity to the latter by compensating the absorption property of X-rays which are emitted from an X-ray source, transmitted through the paper to be measured, reflected by a titanium plate, transmitted again through the paper to be measured and detected by a proportional counter tube thereafter. CONSTITUTION:The second absorption property of X-rays which are emitted from the X-ray source 1, transmitted through the paper 3 to be measured, reflected by the titanium plate 2, transmitted again through the paper 3 and then detected by the proportional counter tube 4 is found out. Meanwhile, the first absorption property of the rays applied from the source 1, reflected by the paper 3 and detected by the propotional counter tube 4 is found out. The output of the proportional counter tube 4 is amplified by an amplifier 6 and inputted in an A-channel counter 8 and a B-channel counter 9 by a two-channel waveheight analyzer. Then, the first and second absorption properties are weighted by weighting circuits 10 and 11 respectively and later prescribed addition and the like are conducted by an operating unit. Thus, CaCO3 and other ash ingredients such as TiO2 and talc are measured at the same sensitivity by using the same detection line and displayed 13. In this way, the measurement of ash ingredients is conducted simply and sepeedily.
