Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to perform an accurate measurement of a liquid level even in case a distance between a detecting part and a consol is long, by a method wherein a signal converter, which converts an electrostatic capacity between each pair of electrodes into other electric signal than the electrostatic capacity, is mounted in the proximity of the electrode. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 1-5 are concentrically securely held in a detecting part S, and the electrodes 1, 2, and 3 are situated in the proximity of the bottom of an oil storage tank T. An electrostatic capacity C1 between the electrodes is unchangeable if a type of oil is determined. The electrodes 3-5 extend vertically, and an electrostatic capacity C2 changes according to an oil surface level. An output of each electrode is inputted to a signal converter 10 consisting of IC, and the electrostatic capacities C1, C2 are converted into electric signals S1 and S2, corresponding to the electrostatic capacities, for example, frequency, voltage, etc. The signals are fed to a signal circuit through a multicore 7 for the operational processing to find a height of a liquid level. This prevents damping of a signal and enables to perform an accurate measurement even if a distance between a detecting part and a consol is long.
