Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of key operation and to improve the portability, by detecting the direction of writing of a character with a sensor, and comparing the result of patternized direction with a pre-recorded character pattern. CONSTITUTION:Characters are written in the pattern within a predetermined range, and the direction of writing, the direction of writing is detected with a finger pressure holding a writing tool and compared with a recorded character pattern. For example, three strain-gauge outputs in a writing tool are vectored, and a character is divided into 8 character elements of A-H through the synthesized vector. A is the 1st quadrant on an XY plane satisfying ¦x¦>=¦y¦, and B is the 1st quadrant satisfying ¦y¦>=¦x¦ and the like. Thus, for example, since ''4'' is patternized with H-A-F, the character recognition is made through comparing it with pre-registrated character patterns.
