Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately sense the failure of diaphragms by detecting the fluctuation in the pH of the filtrate discharged in a filtration or pressing process.
CONSTITUTION: Pressing water is forcibly fed from a pressing water tank 2 via a pump 3 and a stop valve 4 to the inner side of the diaphragms of a filter press through a pressing water supply pipe 5. Next, the filtrate discharged in a filtration or pressing process is flowed via a discharge pipe 8 provided with a filtrate pH detector 10 into a filtrate tank 9. The fluctuations in the pH value of the filtrate are detected, and when the detected pH value attains a certain value, an alarm is emitted from an alarm device 11, whereby the failure of the diaphragms is detected.
