Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible the quantitative evaluation of a flaw by providing linear linear sacnning with a simple construction, by a method wherein a plurality of rectangular coils are arranged at different angles with one another in the direction of scanning to process detected signals in a multiplex manner. CONSTITUTION:Each of a plurality of coils 11-17 constituting a probe P consists of three rectangular coils and these coils are arranged at different angles with one another in the direction of scanning at the pitch of about 15 deg. in sector shape. In addition, the coils 11-17 are connected in series and the detected signals from the coils 11-17 which have been processed in a multiplex manner works to cancel the directivity of each of the coils 11.... Therefore, simple operation providing only linear scanning with a simple construction making unnecessary the rotation of the coil and the like allows the quantitative evaluation of a flaw.
