Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a nonsticky, easily handleable, tough molding material, by impregnating and reacting a fibrous reinforcing material with a liquid composition comprising an OH- or amino-containing compund, an isocyanate compound and a peroxide.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid composition is obtained by mixing 100pts.wt. composition prepared by mixing (A) a compound having at least two OH or prim. amino groups, e.g., ethylene glycol, with (B) a compound having at least two isocyanato groups in the molecule, e.g., tetramethylene diisocyanate, so that the mol ratio of the OH or amino groups to the isocyanato groups is 0.7W1.3, with (C) 0.5W 5pts.wt. peroxide compound, e.g., benzoyl peroxide. Then, 20W80wt% fibrous reinforcing material is impregnated with this composition and then heated at below 100°C to react the OH or amino groups with the isocyanato groups to form a normally solid thermoplastic resin, MW 500W10,000.
