Abstract
PURPOSE:To magnetize granular materials in gas flow, give flocculation effect and improve the removal performance of ultrafine particles in a dust collecting part by attaching a magnetic field generator to the front stage of an electrostatic dust precipitating part. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic field generator 6 is provided in the outside cicumferential part nearer the inlet 1a side than the position of an electrostatic dust precipitating part 2 consisting of the discharge electrode body 3 and a dust precipitating plate 4 in a duct 1. When dust-laden gas is introduced through the inlet 1a, the magnetic particles in the dusts in the gas flow are magnetized while the gas flow is flowing in the magnetic field by the generator 6 and consequently the granular materials flocculate each other, thereby resulting in increased grain sizes of the granular materials. When such gas flow is sent to the part 2, the granular materials 7 are charged by the corona discharge generated near the electrode body 3, and stick on the plate 4. According to such device, almost all the granular materials in the gas flow sent to the part 2 have relatively increased grain sizes and therefore dust collection efficiency is improved.
