Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent unstable phenomenon occurring in air-intake in case of low speed flight and to magnify the range of allowable flight-mach numbers by axially shifting the ramp of an air-intake.
CONSTITUTION: The air-intake 13 is constructed by an axially movable ramp 1 and the fixed cowl lip 12. Plural pressure-sensors 19 detecting the position of normal shock wave NS are set on the slope 11b of the ramp 11. With this constitution the flight-mach number is reduced below the design mach number and the ramp 11 is moved by the drive unit 22 and control unit 23 in response to the signal transmitted from pressure sensor 9 when the normal shock wave NS is shifted forward, then the normal shock wave NS always occurs at the throat 40 of the air-intake 13. Therefore, buzz does not occur even in the range of mach numbers below the design point and available range can be extended.
