Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect air leakage simply and positively, by a method wherein pressure in a silo is reduced and the inside wall of the silo is coated with soapy water in order to observe the generation of air bubbles. CONSTITUTION:After two inspectors enter into a silo from its entrance and exit port 7, the port 7 is sealed hermetically. The pressure in the silo is reduced to -250--500mm. by water colume. The inspectors rinse the inside surface of the silo with water beforehand and then spray soapy water on the surface from a nozzle 11 connected with a soapy water tank 9 and a pressure pump 10. The inspectors give a marking to the place where air bubbles have been generated. by so doing, air leakage can simply be detected with certainty.
