Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound expressed by formula I [R1 is H, lower alkyl or phenyl, naphthyl or pyridyl which may have a substituent group, e.g. a halogen, lower alkyl or nitro, or pyrimidinyl which may be substituted by a lower alkyl; R2 is H, alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; the group expressed by formula II is at the 3- or 5-position of the pyrazole ring].
EXAMPLE: Ethyl-1-phenylpyrazol-5-ylacetate.
USE: An agricultural and horticultural germicide, having improved antimicrobial activity against blast of rice plant, and exhibiting a high antimicrobial activity againt one or more of various plant pathogenic germs e.g. Cochliobolus miyabeanus of rice plants, Sphaerotheca fuliginea and Collectrotrichum lagenarium of cucumbers or Botrytis cinerea of kidney beans without toxicity to the crops.
PROCESS: A compound expressed by formula III (R3 and R4 are lower alkyl) or a compound expressed by formula IV or compounds expressed by formulas III and IV are reacted with a hydrazine compound expressed by formula V in the presence of an acid to give the compound expressed by formula I in which R2 is R3.
