Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound expressed by formula I (R1 is phenyl which may have a substituent group, e.g. halogen, lower alkyl or nitro; R2 is H or lower alkyl; R3 is lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or phenyl which may be substituted by halogen; the group expressed by formula II is at the 3- or 5-position of the pyrazole ring). EXAPLE:3-(2-Methyl-1-propenyl)-1-phenylpyrazole.
USE: An agricultural and horticultural germicide, having improved antimicrobial activity against blast of rice plants, and exhibiting a high antimicrobial activity against one or more of various plant pathogenic germs, e.g Cochliobolus miyabeanus of rice plants, Sphaerotheca fuliginea and Colletotrichum lagenarium of cucumbers and Botrytis cinerea of kidney beans without toxicity to the crops.
PROCESS: An enyne alcohol expressed by formula III (R4 is lower alkyl) is reacted with a hydrazine compound expressed by formula IV in an inert solvent in the presence of an acid, e.g. acetic acid, at room temperature to 80°C to give the compound expressed by formula I.
