PURPOSE:To protect a contact of a relay circuit for changing over the armature winding of the motor, and to shorten deceleration time by opening one end of the armature winding for high speed after back electromotive force is minimized sufficiently when one end of the armature winding for low speed is short-circuited. CONSTITUTION:When the motor shifts to revolution at low speed from operation at high speed, conduction to each armature winding 1U-1W from a drive circuit 7 is stopped, and the application of DC voltage to changeover signal input terminals 10, 11 is also stopped. A relay coil 6 is de-energized instantaneously, and constantly- closed contacts 41, 42 return to on. Accordingly, the charging charge of a capacitor 9 flows into a relay coil 5 owing to the obstruction of discharge to the terminal 10 by means of a diode 8, and conduction currents decrease at a time constant by the capacity of the capacitor 9 and a resistance section of the coil 5. Constantly-opened contacts 31, 32 hold on until the voltage of the relay coil 5 lowers to return voltage. The motor is generation-braked because a closed loop is formed to a B side section of the relay circuit from the intermediate taps 2U-2W of the winding 1U-1W during the on period.
