Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily measure the phase transition temperature between crystal-liquid crystal of mixed liquid crystal material composed of >=four components, by measuring the glass transition temperature of the liquid crystal material changed into a glass state by quenching from a nematic state. CONSTITUTION:Liquid crystal material mixed >=four components is made in a glass state by quenching from a nematic state to a temperature of liquid nitrogen. Next, the temperature of the liquid crystal material in the glass state is raised from the temperature of liquid nitrogen at a speed of 1k/min and a glass transition temperature Tg is measured by absolute temperature. And, the lowest limit temperature TCN of the nematic phase is found by equation TCN=1.31Tg. Hereby, the lowest temperature of the nematic phase can be accurately found and it is useful for establishment of operation condition of display apparatus used the liquid crystal.
