Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a cheap optical battery by efficiently separating and storing Ag and halogen formed in optical decomposition phenomenon and effecting battery reaction. CONSTITUTION:An optical battery is made of a glass plate 1, transparent electrode material 2 having no relation with battery reaction, for example In2O3 doped with Sn or SnO2 doped with In, which is a transparent electrode having a surface vacuum-evaporated with a slight amount of platinum, a solid electrolyte film 3, and an electrode 4 mainly composed of halogen, a charge transport complex that are laminated. There are an insulating packing 6, a terminal 7, a lead 8 for the transparent electrode and a current collector 5 between electrodes 2 and 4. The ionic charge transport complex made of halogen and a tetranary nitrogen cyclized compound is suitably used as the electrode 4. The solid electrolyte film 3 is formed by vacuum-evaporating AgBr or AgI on a transparent electrode material 2. A secondary battery or a capacitor having lower electromotive force than the optical battery is connected with the optical battery in parallel, to charge therein.
