Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain inexpensively and simply titled foam excellent in heat resistance and flame resistance, by using a modifier having a catalytic activity of isocyanate trimerization and prepared from a specified nitrogen-containing carboxylic acid and a polyether-polyol.
CONSTITUTION: A nitrogen-containing carboxylic acid prepared by reacting an organic amine compound having at least one active amine hydrogen in the molecule, e.g., methylamine, with a dicarboxylic acid anhydride, e.g., phthalic anhydride, is treated with a polyether-polyol in which part of the active hydrogen atoms of the terminal groups are replaced with an alkali metal. Then, the resulting mixed solution containing a nitrogen-containing carboxylic acid alkali metal salt and a polyether-polyol is used as a modifier having a catalytic activity of isocyanate trimerization. Next, a polyisocyanate, e.g., polymethylene polyphenyl ioscyanate, and a blowing agent are treated with the modifier to obtain a modified polyisocyanurate foam.
