Abstract

Diisocyanates obtained from nitrogen acids (see Group IV(b)) are reacted with nitrodiols such as 2,2-dinitro-1,3-propanediol to give nitropolyurethanes.ALSO:Nitraza acids are prepared by hydrolysing the corresponding nitraza dinitriles <FORM:0905961/IV (b)/1> where A and A1 are the same or different alkylene radicals. Preferably a strong mineral acid is used for hydrolysis, though a base can be used, when the resulting acid salt is neutralized to obtain the free acid. Reaction with thionyl chloride or a phosphorus halide gives diacyl halides, which treated with an azide and heated anhydrously gives di-isocyanates which with nitrodiols form nitro polyurethanes.
