Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a unidirectional transducer with less loss, by locating electrodes at both sides of piezoelectric thin film. CONSTITUTION:A weighted lower electrode pattern 12a is formed on a medium base plate 10 made of glass or the like. An oscillation piezoelectric thin film 11 made of zinc oxide is formed on the lower electrode pattern 12a and an upper electrode pattern 12b is formed on a thin film 11. The lower and upper electrode patterns 12a, 12b are formed shifted by lambda/4. The oscillation and phase characteristics can be set arbitrarily by suitably setting an envelope (chain line) which represents the depth of meshing of the electrodes 12a, 12b. A 90 deg. phase shifter 9 is provided to energize elastic surfae waves with this electrode pattern and the output of the phase shifter 9 is applied to the upper electrode 12a.
