Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the lubricity and wear resistance of a magnetic recording medium by making a magnetic layer contain a specific organic silicone compound as a lubricant. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer is made to contain an epoxy-modified organic silicone compound which has an epoxy groups, superior in affinity with a binder, in a principal chain or in the pricipal chain and at both its terminals shown by the right general formula [where R1 and R2 are -CH3 or -R3-epoxy group, R3 is a hydrocarbon group of C1-C26, and (n1), (n2) and n1+n2 are 0-1,000, 1-500 and <=1,000].
