Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide range finding capacity for the horizon and to improve focusing accuracy by setting the plane inclusive of both optical axes of a pair of imaging optical systems at an angle of approximately 45 deg. with respect to a horizontal plane. CONSTITUTION:The images of the same object are formed on a fixedly disposed photosensor array 6 by a pair of imaging optional systems 3, 4 and 3', 4' which are fixedly disposed by leaving a constant spacing, and the relative position relation between the images are read electrically, to calculate the distance up to the object. At this time, the plane inclusive of both optical axes of a pair of the fixedly disposed imaging optical systems is so formed as to assume an angle of approximately 45 deg. with respect to a horizontal plane. Hence, the range finding field in the finder field is reduced to an inclined rectangular shape, and since horizontal and vertical patterns are imaged with 45 deg. inclination on the array 6 and both of these are measurable, the improvement in focusing rate owing to a decrease in erroneous range finding for horizon is realized.
