Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in a performance a rotary device and the occurrency of vibration, by a method wherein a gap between the rotary object, under operation, of the rotary device and static members, surrounding the rotary object, is measured easily and reliably, and the gap is appropriately adjusted. CONSTITUTION:Partitions or blade rings 6 make contact with an iner circumference surface of a casing 4 so that the rings are positioned corresponding to their respective shroudes of blades 2, and a static member, surrounding a rotary object 1, consists of the blade rings 6 and a seal fin 5 as well. Radiocative isotopes are adhered to each shroude 2 of the rotary object 1 and static members 5 and 6 surrounding the rotary object. During the operation of the rotary object 1, a dry plate (film) is exposed to light from a side and an upper part as shown in a drawing to detect the size of the gaps A-D in a direction of a radius and a gap in an axial direction. During the actual operation of the rotary object 1, this permits the easy detection and measurement of the gap between the rotary object and the static members 5 and 6 and the gaps are adjusted based on the results.
