Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform rapid and reliable detection of leakage of a liquid content, such as for example, LPG, in a tank, by providing gas passages in parallel or in a gratelike arrangement inside a thermal insulation material and behind a tank skin, for introducing and detecting leaking gas. CONSTITUTION:A tank cool keeping structure for a tank carried by a low temperature liquefied gas tanker of separate tank type, is so constructed that a thermal insulation materials 4 are attached to a low temperature resistant tank skin 1, setting in spaces defined between spacers 2 arranged at predetermined intervals. An air-permeable, soft polyurethane foam material 3 for forming gas passages is disposed in a groove having, for example, 10-50mm. width, and previously formed in each spacer 2. Further, a hole 5 having 10-20mm. diameter is formed in each spacer 2, piercing through the spacer 20 and communicating with the polyurethane foam material 3. A conducting pipe for transferring leaking gas therethrough to a gas analyzer which is not shown, is connected to each hole 5, thereby to detect leaking gas by means of the gas analyzer.
