Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure an accurate record and reproduction and increase the instantaneous reproduction property of a sound recording tape, by always contracting and expanding with a certain tension a U-shaped tape part of the tape hook side which is recorded with use of a capstan. CONSTITUTION:The opposite sides of an endless tape 5 are hooked in an adverse U-shaped form to each other to a tape hook 3 and a tape pass roller 4 on a slide 1 and in such way that the stretch force is applied to the slide 1. Guide rollers 6, 9, 7, 8, 10 and 11 are attached across a base board 2 so that the U-shaped tape parts are stretched in parallel to the line of action of the stretch force of the guide 1 at all times at the sides of both the hook 3 and the roller 4. Then the tape is selectively pressed to a capstan 14 with pinch rollers 15 and 16, and the tape at the side where no contact is given to the capstan 14 is braked by shoes 24 and 25 and in coupling to the pinch roller. A contact is secured between the recording and reproducing heads 26 and 27 and the tape when the U-shaped tape part of the hook 3 side is contracted. As a result, the tape tension can be kept constant to ensure an accurate record and reproduction.
