Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve strength, low-temp. toughness and solidification cracking resistance by using wires of specific components and combining these with heat treatment conditions in producing a high tensile steel pipe by an UOE process. CONSTITUTION:A high tensile steel pipe is produced by an UOE process from a high tensile steel plate of approximately 70-100kg/mm.<2> in tensile strength. At this time, MIG welding is carried out by using wires contg. components of <=0.13% C, 0.1-0.7% Si, 0.4-1.5% Mn, <=0.015% P, <=0.015% S, 1.0-7.0% Ni, and 0.15-2.0% Cr, after which the next layer is welded by an SAW (submerged arc welding) method. Thence, the resultant steel pipe is quickly heated at 900- 1.000 deg.C, after which it is water-hardened, following to which it is tempered at 600- 700 deg.C.
