Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce sliding resistance and thereby save the energy in a vane and cam type rotary compressor used in a room air-conditioner etc. by forming an escape in the sliding surface of the cam and thereby providing a sure lubrication on the sliding surface.

CONSTITUTION: A clearance 11c is provided in the form of elliptical recess in similar figure to the elliptical outside surface 11a of the cam 11 in such a way that the width of the sliding face 11b becomes uniform in all points. The minimum diameter of the clearance 11c is extended to the outside surfaces 1a, 1b of the rotary shaft 1. Because the width of the sliding face 11b of the cam 11 is made constant, the friction force at the sliding face 11b has become uniform over the whole outside surface, and the cam 11 make sliding motion smoothly. Also because the clearance 11c is formed from the outside surfaces 1a, 1b of the rotary shaft 1, the lubricating oil fed from the shaft 1 can be easily introduced to the clearance 11c, and the oil stagnating in the clearance 11c can make lubrication of the sliding face 11b securely. Thus the sliding resistance is reduced and the power can be saved greatly.
