Abstract

PURPOSE: To assure positive functioning of the emergency valve to shut off gas supply in response to a seismic vibration, by pulling in a pin, which prevents the valve body from sliding, by means of the shaking of a weight.
CONSTITUTION: When an earthquake occurs, a weight 15 is shaked, and its shoulder 15' touches the under surface 17' of a cradle 17, acting a lever-like prizing action on a pin 14. Due to this action, the pin 14 is pulled down in resistance to the force of a spring 16, permitting a spool type valve body 11 slide along the aliding path 12 by means of gas pressure to dislocate a penetration hole 18 off the alignment with the main gas passage 3, and thus shutting the gas supply. Resetting of the emergecy valve is accomplished by screwing a return screw 19 into the sliding path 12, and moving the spool type valve body 11 to the left. When the pin 14 is thrusted into the sliding path 12, the return screw 19 is screwd back to the original position.
