Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent clogging of a through-hole in laser piercing and improve the accuracy of piercing by piercing the work by maintaining the rear surface thereof in a vacuum atomosphere, and sucking away the melt in the hole into the vacuum atmosphere when the through-hole is formed. CONSTITUTION:A suction cup 7 made of rubber or the like is attracted on the rear surface of the work 3 in a position opposing to its piercing section, and the inside 8 thereof is connected to an evacuating device. While it is being evacuated, a laser beam 1 is irradiated to the front surface of the work 3, whereby it is pierced. At the same instant when a through-hole F is formed, the melt produced in the hole F is forcibly sucked into the suction cup 8 on the rear side by the difference in air pressure. This cup 7 is removed after the working. According to this method, there will be no melt left in the hole at all, whereby clogging is fully prevented, and the accuracy of piercing is cnsiderably improved.
