Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a rapid start fluorescent lamp which has a small deviation of electric resistance and stable starting characteristics, by coating the inner wall of a glass case with a transparent conductive film made of tin oxide or the like, a phosphor film and an antimony oxide film, in that order. CONSTITUTION:The inner wall of a tubular glass case 1 is coated with a transparent conductive film made of a tin oxide, before it is coated with a phosphor film. Then, the case 1 is transferred to the next process, to an antimony trioxide film coating device 2. A hermetically sealed case 3 of the device 2 contains an antiomny trichloride liquid 5, which is prepared by melting antimony trichloride powder put in the case 3 by means of a heater 4. The space over the liquid 5 is filled with an evaporated steam 6. Antimony trichloride sent into a case 1 held by a holder located in a heating furnace 9, is oxidized within the furnace 9 through thermal decomposition into antimony trioxide, which is made to adhere to the inner wall of the glass case 1. Consequently, a rapid start fluorescent lamp can be obtained with such a simple device and by such a simple method.
