Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform accurate and high-speed track detection by moving an optical head in the redius direction of an optical disk at a prescribed speed and by obtaining a track detection signal by extracting a frequency component generated when the optical head crosses a track. CONSTITUTION:An optical head 11 is positioned at the outermost circumference of an optical disk 1 to focus reproducing beam light on the outermost circumferential track 2. The optical disk is rotated at a prescribed speed and the optical head 11 is moved in the radius direction of the optical disk 1 at a 1.5m/s speed, for example, so that the reproducing beam light starts scanning from the outermost circumference of the track 2. Its reflected light from the track 2 is detected by a photoelectric converter 21 and a frequency component when the optical head 11 crosses the track 2 is extracted through a preamplifier 22 and an LPF and inputted to a binary-coding circuit 24 to output a track detection signal. Consequently, accurate and high-speed track detection is achieved without being influenced by flaws dust, etc., on the optical disk 1.
