Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve resolution by detecting a step-out state in a short time by setting or resetting the 2nd frequency divider by the output of the 1st frequency divider and by changing the storage state of a storing circuit. CONSTITUTION:The output frequency of a voltage-controlled oscillator 1 is divided by a frequency divider 2 to obtain a signal having a frequency nearly equal to that of a reference signal, and it is supplied to phase comparator 3 together with the output of a reference signal oscillator 4. The comparator 3 obtains a phase difference between those two input signals and supplies an oscillator 1 with an output which corresponds to the phase difference. The 1st frequency divider 5 divides the reference signal frequency of the reference signal oscillator 4, and the 2nd frequency dividers 6 and 7 constituting a counter 10 divide the output frequency of the oscillator 1. A gate circuit 8 comparing the outputs of the frequency dividers 6 and 7 mutually is so set that only when a state (0, 1) is set, a step-out state is discriminated. Consequently, when the output state of the counter 10 is (0, 1), the circuit 8 discriminates the step-out state and stores the result of discrimination in a storing circuit 9.
