Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the quantity of actually injected fuel to be highly accurate despite the wear of mechanical parts, by detecting the quantity of actual injection of a fuel injection pump for an internal combustion engine in terms of the change in the pressure in a plunger so that the quantity of actual injection is equal to a required quantity.
CONSTITUTION: When a pressure signal S1 is entered as an input signal from a pressure sensor 21, the peack value of the signal is detected and held by a peack value hold circuit 23. When the digitization of the peak value of the pressure in a plunger in one injection process is finished, the peak value hold circuit 23 is reset by a reset pulse P1. Data D1 from an A/D converter 61 are entered into an actual injection quantity calculation circuit 62 so that an actual injection signal S4 corresponding to the pressure peak value is generated through calculation. A desired quantity calculation circuit 30 computes a required fuel injection quantity corresponding to the state of operation, to send out a desired quantity signal D2 which is compared with the actual injection quantity signal S4 by an error detector 65. As a result, a signal is applied to an electromagnetic actuator 18 at such polarity as to move a control sleeve in such a direction that the quantity of actual injection is equalized to the result of prescribed calculation.
