Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove economically a light hydrocarbon component and water from a petroleum fraction, by introducing the light component stripped from a tower top into the tube side of a multitubular heat exchanger and by colling and condensing the light component through heat exchange between it and a cold oil introduced into the shell side of the heat exchanger.
CONSTITUTION: A side cut fraction of a main distilling column 1 is fed through a line 11 to a stripper 2. As the stripper 2 is in a reduced pressure condition, the light hydrocarbon component is evaporated and introduced through the line 12 into the tube side of the multitubular heat exchanger 3 and, while it passes through the tube 31, it is cooled and condensed by a cold crude oil CR flowing in the shell side 32. The condensate is recycled through a receiver 4 to the main distilling column 1 and the pressure in the receiver 4 becomes a low pressure corresponding to the vapor pressure of the light component at that temperature. The reduced pressure condition thus generated extends through the condenser 3 toward the inside of the stripper 2 so that the stripping is continuously carried out without heat added and a petroleum fraction PF having the light component and moisture removed can be obtained through a line 14 from the bottom of the stripper 2.
