Abstract

PURPOSE:To compute the tension simply, by compressing a paper specimen at a specified pressure, and computing the tension based on the thickness of the paper measured at the compressed part. CONSTITUTION:A measuring probe 1 is pressed against the paper by a spring 4, and the variation in thickness of the paper is sensed by a displacement sensor 3, with the paper being compressed. At the same time, the paper is pushed to a driving roller 11 by a pushing roller 12, and transported by the driving roller 11. The measured paper thickness data is inputted into a microcomputer. Said microcomputer computes the tension data based on the preliminarily set constant and the paper thickness data.
