Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a humidity detecting element which is capable of maintaining an initial characteristic, stable against the external environment, and high in reliability, by installing a filter containing an activated fiber to the outside circumferential part of the sensitive part, and using it as a case. CONSTITUTION:An element body (a) is connected to a cathode lead 6 through a solder layer 5, and its other end part is made to pass through an insulation packing 9 and is held. A filter 10 is fixed to a collar part 91 of the insulation packing 9 on the side of the cathode lead 6. As a material of this filter is selected activated carbon which is capable of efficiently catching a harmful substance to the humidity detecting element, such as smoke, an atmospheric floating ion, etc., without exerting influence on passing of water content, and a filter is prepared by converting said activated carbon to a fiber having size of 0.1-20mum and making a nonwoven fabric containing this fiber. In this way, it is possible to obtain a humidity detecting element which is capable of maintaining an initial characteristic, and stable against the external environment.
