Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the formation of a build-up on rolls in a heat treatment furnace, by cleaning the lower surface of a steel belt in advance when continuously heat-treating the steel belt in a hearth roll type heat treatment furnace.
CONSTITUTION: When continuously heat-treating a steel belt 1 in the hearth roll type heat treatment furnace, before it is taken into the heat treatment furnace it is passed through a bath type grinding roll 2, abrasive roll 3, brushing roll 5, etc. to remove smudge, etc. on the lower surface of the steel belt 1 and to clean the surface. In this process, the upper roll of each roll acts as a backup roll and the lower roll of each roll acts for grinding, abrading and brushing, respectively. A linger roll 4 is disposed next to the abrasive roll 3 as a roll for draining to remove water sprayed from a water pouring opening 13 onto the lower surface of the steel belt when the surface is abraded by the abrasive roll. No build-up is formed on hearth rolls in the heat treatment furnace because the lower surface of the steel belt is cleaned in advance.
