Abstract

PURPOSE: To set an injection amount of fuel below a maximum injection amount of fuel required to obtain a maximum torque rating of an engine under low and middle loads, by providing a smoke setting device which can control a smoke set position depending on engine load.
CONSTITUTION: In order to bring an injection amount of fuel below a maximum injection amount of fuel required to obtain a maximum torque of an engine in the acceleration of low and middle loads, a smoke adjusting valve 33d is shifted by distance (l) in the right direction by attracting said valve 33d with an electromagnet 33e, so that a control sleeve 23 is controlled for cutting fuel. Therefore, even if the control sleeve 23 is instantaneously shifted so that an injection amount of fuel is increased at the time of acceleration, a maximum injection amount necessary to provide a maximum torue is not reached. Thus fuel more than required is not injected. In case of heavy engine load, by stopping to apply a current across a coil 33f the electromagnet 33e is not actuated.
