Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to be applied a sufficient thrust to a transferring liquid metal even when flow rate of the liquid metal is large and depth thereof is deep by a method wherein a current path of the liquid metal is made to have an opened groove type, and an electromagnetic field generator is provided at the side part of the current path interposing a refractory material between them. CONSTITUTION:The current path 1 to make the liquid metal 2 to flow therein is formed to have the opened sectional shape being the upper part thereof opened to the atmosphere. The electromagnetic coil 3 to generate transferring magnetic field is arranged at the side part of the current path 1 interposing the refractory material between them. When the width of the current path 1 is broad, it is recommendable to provide the electromagnetic coils 3 at both the side parts. Accordingly the electromagnetic thrust can be generated effectively regardless of depth of the liquid metal 2.
