Abstract

PURPOSE:To determine the quality of blood by comparing the emission of a weak light from a test blood with the emission of a light from the normal blood as standard after it is measured. CONSTITUTION:A indicates a light emission of blood for normal persons, B that for diabetes patients, C that for cancer patients and D that for leukemia patients. Points are different by age and sex. The values for narmal persons are below about 40 counts/10sec whereas the emission for B-D distributes almost above the value. Abnormality of the blood, if any, will increase the emission thereby making a judgement on blood possible. A photomultiplier tube of a measuring device varies with ambient temperatures or the like. In practice, establishing the ratio between a dark count of the device, the count of the blood of normal persons and the count of the blood to be measured provides an effective identification of blood. The average value between 10-100sec is enough for counting which requires about 1-2min for inspection, thereby enabling a quick inspection.
