Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the deterioration promptly and stably, by providing a protective shutter, which cooperates with the opening and closing operation of the door, between the door and photoelectric multiplier, and preventing the external light which enters the darkbox when opening and closing the door to charge or discharge the speciment from penetrating into the photoelectric multiplier. CONSTITUTION:The chemiluminescence released from the specimen placed in a specimen container 1 which is housed in a darkbox 4 reaches a photoelectric multiplier 3 through a converging and spectral unit 2, and the intensity thereof is measured to determine the degree of deterioration of the specimen. A motor-driven protective shutter 6 is provided just before the photoelectric multiplier 3, and a limit switch 7 to detect the position of the inside end 5a of door 5 is opened or closed. Therefore, when charging or discharging the specimen, the external light does not reach the photoelectric multiplier 3, so that generation of dark current of intensity does not occur in the photoelectric multiplier 3. This enables speedy and stable measurement of deterioration.
