Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain resin powder having improved flow properties and blocking resistance, by adding simultaneously a coagulant and an ethylenic unsaturated bond- containing monomer to provide a hard polymer to rubberlike polymer-containing synthetic resin latex, or adding the coagulant and the monomer successively, followed by suspension polymerization.
CONSTITUTION: Resin latex of styrene, acrylonitrile, etc. containing 40W80wt% based on solid content of rubberlike polymer, e.g., polybutadiene, etc. is subjected to emulsion polymerization to give a polymer. A coagulant, e.g., salt, etc. and preferably 1W10PHR monoer, e.g., methyl methacryalte, etc. containing a radically polymerizable ethylenic unsaturated bond to form a hard polymer are added to the polymer simultaneously or after the polymer is made into a slurry with the coagulant and the monomer is fed to the polymer, and the resulting mixture is polymerized in an aqueous suspension system, dehydrated conventionally, and dried.
EFFECT: Finely divided powder is selectively granulated and the bulk specific gravity is enlarged to prevent the occurrence of dust.
